The platform is a public statement of the principles, objectives, and policy of a political party. The platform serves as a body of principles on which a person or group takes a stand in appealing to the public. The platform usually has a general statement of values, followed by more detailed and current support statements

This draft platform follows the outline of the Washington State Democratic Party 2008 Platform and uses the categories of that Platform. The Preamble and the general statements at the beginning of each platform topic are copied from the State Platform. The very small number of platform items that have been submitted locally for this draft will be found in the appropriate platform topic.

Given the small number of local submissions, it appears that discussion at the County Convention will focus on evaluation of the general values and principles contained in the State Platform. This may provide a useful opportunity for Klickitat County Democrats to consider and discuss our values and principles at the local level.
